Professional Dog Training

Charlotte Dog Training ProgramsWe offer a variety of dog training and behavior modification programs, including customized courses to fit any lifestyle. Our trainers deliver Private Lessons, In-Home training as well as group dog training classes. Our proven training methods will get the results you are looking for with your dog. We offer puppy training, basic on-leash training as well as advanced off-leash training. Our goal is to assist you in taking your dog through all phases of training to ensure that their performance and behavior is reliable in distracting, real world, environments. Our goal is not only to train dogs, but to also teach dog owners on proper methods of training and continued reinforcement to ensure that the training and proper behaviors are maintained for the life of the dog. We also offer training and evaluations for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluation.

Our Private Lesson dog training is designed for dog owners who do not have the time to attend classes consistently each week or have dogs that are too "out of control" for group classes. Our private lesson training programs bring the classes to your home. These dog training sessions can be conducted in your home, at a nearby park, or a location of your choice. This training is usually conducted in the home to teach the dog to respond in the environment that he naturally lives in. We offer a number of different courses as private lessons; from puppy training, basic obedience, and even off-leash obedience. Private lessons typically meet once each week for about an hour and are designed to teach the owner how to train their own dog(s). We offer affordable options and can work with your schedule to ensure that both you and your dog get the most of this training program. We also offer custom programs and are happy to work with multiple dog owners.

Our In-Home dog training is a great option for the dog owner with a very busy lifestyle. Our In-Home dog training programs allow our trainers the opportunity to train your dog in your home in as little as three-weeks. This program offers puppy training, basic on-leash training as well as advanced off-leash training. With our in home training our trainer comes to your home several times per week and spends several hours training your dog and resolving problem behaviors. This training can be done as you observe or while you are at work, at school or even on vacation! Whether you are present for the training or not, we work one-on-one with you at the end of the training to make sure that you completely understand how to maintain your dogs’ behaviors and reinforce the commands that they learned during the course. This training program is great because your dog learns in an environment where they are comfortable and any problem behaviors can be corrected where they often occur.

Our Greater Charlotte area trainers also offer dog training group classes that are a great way to learn how to train your dog in an environment that is ideal for socialization with new people, dogs and new environments. Our group classes meet weekly and are designed to teach you how to train your dog in obedience and to learn how to remedy and manage problem dog behaviors. With our group training classes we offer: American Kennel Club S.T.A.R. Puppy class, basic obedience training, off-leash obedience training, behavior modification classes, Therapy Dog training, Rally-Obedience and Agility for Fun.

Highland Canine Training is known throughout the Southeast for its dog behavior modification training to help dog owners solve problems such as: jumping on people, pulling on the leash, biting, nipping, fear, growling, guarding, dominance, phobias, territorial aggression, fighting and more! We specialize in dog behavior problems and have a proven track record for successfully rehabilitating dogs that many other trainers refuse to work with. We also deal with and welcome what are considered difficult and hard to train dogs or breeds. Our experience with "common" and unusual behavioral problems allows us the ability to work with frustrated dog owners with the confidence that we can make a difference and allow them to develop a lasting, rewarding relationship with their previously problematic dog!

"Just a quick note to let you know how much I value and appreciate your training! First, I love your approach and gentle manner. I really enjoyed you as a person and so did Barry (he really looked forward to you coming as you could tell!). Your methods were easy to learn, work with, and adapt to our lifestyle. You were very professional, effective, and dependable. I will recommend you to others and look forward to follow-up sessions. I will also look forward to trusting my pets with you when I travel. Thanks for a wonderful 6 weeks!"

      Fondly,
      Cindy W. - Charlotte, NC

"Beverly and I would like to thank you for everything that you did with Belle. She has adjusted back to her surroundings and is doing so much better than before. We see a remarkable difference in her behavior. She is more calm inside the house, still playful outdoors, and less dominant in nature than prior to training. She follows us everywhere and when we stop- she stops and lays down at our feet. If everyone is active in the house- she simply goes to a quieter space and lays down to watch. We couldn't be any more pleased with the outcome.

I almost forgot to add... she has not picked up or chewed 1 sock, shoe, or toy since she returned."

      Thanks again,
      Ken M. - Belmont, NC

"I want to thank you for your dedication to help making Jackson the pup that we can live with. I think he will always have some issues, but we are so so happy with him and the time you have given to us. For anyone who reads this. The story of Jackson is a long one, Too much for me to write. In a nutshell we were dealing with very aggressive behavior with Jackson. Thanks to Linda we have turned this around. "

      Thanks Again,
      Jacki . - Kannapolis, NC
